One Piece Card Game: Why It Has Become the Fastest-Growing TCG

0

Few trading card games have grown as fast as the One Piece Card Game. Launched by Bandai in 2022, it has gone from a curiosity to one of the most in-demand sealed products on our shelves. Here is what is behind the surge and how to get in.

Simple to learn, hard to master

The game uses a Leader card, a life pool made of your own cards and a DON!! resource system that ramps every turn. New players can learn the basics in a single game, but the attack-and-counter decisions give experienced players plenty of depth. That balance is a big reason the game has stuck.

Artwork that sells itself

Every set features manga panel cards, alternate art leaders and parallel rares taken straight from the source material. Collectors who never played a card game are picking up boxes purely for the art, which keeps sealed demand high.

Regular, well-paced releases

Bandai releases a new main booster set every few months alongside Starter Decks and premium collections. Each set introduces new Leaders and shakes up the meta without invalidating older cards, so early purchases stay relevant.

What to buy first

Start with a Starter Deck for the crew you like, then add a booster box from the current set. Starter Decks give you a complete legal deck and a Leader; the booster box lets you upgrade it and chase the alternate art cards. If you are collecting rather than playing, the newest booster box is usually the best bet as prices tend to rise once a set goes out of print.
