How to Store Sealed Booster Boxes So They Hold Their Value

0

Sealed trading card product is only worth what its condition allows. A crushed corner or a torn shrink wrap can knock a large chunk off the value of a booster box, so a little care goes a long way. Here is how experienced collectors store sealed product.

Keep it out of the light

Direct sunlight fades box art and yellows shrink wrap within months. Store boxes in a cupboard, a closed shelf or an opaque container, never on a windowsill or under strong display lighting.

Control temperature and humidity

Cardboard and card stock absorb moisture. Aim for a cool room with stable humidity, and avoid garages, lofts and basements where conditions swing. Silica gel packets inside a storage tub are a cheap safeguard.

Protect the shrink wrap

The factory seal is the proof that a box is untouched. Acrylic display cases or clear box protectors keep the wrap from scuffing and stop corners from being dented when boxes are stacked. Never stack heavy items on top of booster boxes.

Store flat and supported

Booster boxes should sit flat, not on their side, with the weight spread evenly. Elite Trainer Boxes and bundles are sturdier but still benefit from a protector if you plan to hold them long term.

Handle with clean hands

Oils from your hands leave marks on shrink wrap over time. Handle sealed product by the edges and put it straight back into its protector after showing it off.

Follow these steps and your sealed collection will look the same in five years as the day it arrived. Browse our sealed boxes and protectors to get started.
